Their romance is a subplot, and even if it’s the main focus why couldn’t it be in there “that much” the whole point of Yuri’s performances is about Love.

It wasn’t your cup of tea then. The character were nice, the development and passion was great, The romance was natural and adorable, pretty animation.

He romance was not adorable neither was it natural. The story quite frankly was boring and had no depth. To scate is to have phenomenal grace which was protrayed at a very substandard way. All my scate friends felt extremely confused and somewhat embarrassed at whatever was going on. Romance should be in stories but that much? Ofcourse I don’t expect someone who’s probably never scared professionally a day in their life to understand anything.

Can i ask how were any of you confused on what was going on in a sports anime? And how was their romance not natural every episode they just got closer the normal way until I think episode what 10? Where we realize Victor had already liked Yuri for a LOOONG while and vise versa which makes more sense to why he came to Japan in the first place. Their romance just wasn’t dramatic or extra it was just..casual and normal.

It also felt like the sport was under researched, if you’re gonna make a story based on a sport atleast focus on things that make a skater. They don’t talk about any of it and somehow the mf gets that level? You know how demoralizing that is? It takes us years to perfect this and some of still don’t get to a certain standard. So yes, the story was not good in the slightest degree.

See this exactly what I mean. The only thing you picked up from the anime was the romance. Why use our sport for entertainment if you’re not gonna present it in a way where the general conscience gets educated and understands the struggles in a being a skater? For a anime that’s proclaimed to be the most famous in the Ice Skate genre, it is a complete letdown

That’s your opinion. I still very much enjoyed the show after not seeing it for years and I wished it had their movie to see more of the characters fleshed out. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it bro

What? So love for the sport doesn’t exist? Are you saying Skating doesn’t deserve wholehearted love and respect? Are saying the only way for it to be recognized is to have it associated with Romance?

No I cared about the characters in general, because that’s what specifically draws me to enjoy a show. I liked in this 12 episode anime that they at least made me feel for all the characters to same degree even if I didn’t really LIKE them I could understand them wanting to be better and take risk. I specifically liked Yuri because I related to the idiot. I also enjoy a cute adult romance tho

While this isn’t a sports anime, Apothecary diaries is another show that I loved mainly for the characters and it really helped me find things I wouldn’t otherwise be interested in like poison, medical stuff, historical themes and politics, and them throwing in random stuff for the plot. BECAUSE the characters all were interesting and the setting. I imagine it’s the same for Dr. Stone fans and Haikyuu. I’m not an ice skater but it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the art and look more up after

Because a show like Yuri on Ice introduced me to it and showed me some basics and actually explained it to me because I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise. I dont really care for sports outside of shows surrounding the sport and I’ll only care if the characters MAKE me care. That’s just me, i found Yuri on Ice entertaining and rewatchable especially as a comfort anime
