A) the plot is deliberately confusing and operates primarily as a bootstrap paradox. B) people don’t understand media like that C) nuance is hard
So I’ve noticed this on this sub and frankly anywhere that talks about AoT. Why is it so difficult for so many ppl to understand the plot? Ppl misrepresenting characters, ignoring plot points, making it seem like a black and white situation, etc.

OP of the other post, I absolutely agree. That’s why I’m so big on the fact that AOT isn’t black and white because it’s very obvious that it’s confusing and complex so falling into black and white thinking for a piece of media where the complexity is obvious is just very odd in my opinion but the nuance and media literacy arguments do explain why ppl fall into it so quickly.

On top of that the whole point of the story is how black and white thinking is bad. “If we kill all the people over there, will we be free?” Black and white. They are evil, full stop. If we kill them, the problem stops.
