Everything past Dresrosa isn’t worth consuming. Wano is one of the biggest disappointments in manga history, Whole Cake tries to make you sympathize for an annoying pervert, Egghead was rushed with horrible quality in art. One Piece isn’t worth your time because it becomes so disappointing. Everything you learned to love about it gets completely flipped upside down. And guess what.. if your fav character isn’t Luffy, Zoro, or Sanji… you won’t get to see them do anything. I will never forgive Oda

Luffy’s character is not consistent (which is extremely important in a 1000+ chapter manga). I could debate you into a corner about Luffy’s horrible writing along with why Gear 5 is one of the worst transformations in manga to date. Oda has gone against every foundation of his own writing that it’s barely worth reading. It is one of the worst examples of serialized storytelling I could think of. The Magic Tree House is more consistent than One Piece with its writing.

I could easily debate you on it. Where would you like to start? Man I’ve been building evidence on every reason I hate what the series has become since 2016… don’t play w me

Oda also can’t write a good female character to save his life 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn’t know I quit reading it because there’s absolutely no stake anymore. I cannot care for a single battle involving Luffy due to the horrible writing of Gear 5. I already thought Oda lost the show when he introduced Snake Man (a transformation that literally does not make sense for Luffy’s character at all) and have been hating it since. Gear 5 was just the icing on the cake. Also Luffy learning the haki attack on Wano is completely against his character too.

Oda has absolutely lost every single meaning behind the characters and has only used them as plot devices for what they represent. Personally, I want my characters to have depth along with a moral path that shows what they represent… not just a caricature archetype for a representation of ideology.

I also want to feel the threat of the opponents they’re facing. But yk… when you go 1000 chapters without any real consequence of action (besides marine ford the last well written arc), things begin to get stale. I do not care to be caught up cuz I know in another 2 years everyone is still gunna be fine. People hype up the world building too… ts is ass. Tell me 5 different times where the political culture of a specific island made a diverse impact on the story… you can’t… cuz it doesn’t happen.

Let’s compare Naruto… in Naruto there’s a bunch of different village. Each village is uniquely different with unique societies and political structures that impact the other villages throughout the story as they interact. On top of that, it’s paced in a way where the villages of importance are only introduced when they’re important. You don’t have to waste your time reading/watching information that isn’t relevant. Overall the structure is way more immersive to the world than One Piece

Thank you for this, one piece was a guilty pleasure of mine for a while because I thought the story and most of the characters were amazing, but I DESPISED how oda treated his female characters and viewers (not caring when they complained about how sexualized most female characters were). Despite what I didn’t like about it, I couldn’t help but keep coming back to it, though I stopped watching just after dressrosa (but would likely come back later). Now I can have an easier time staying away!

If you needed some internet random to give you a spiel as to why they don’t like One Piece to make you never watch One Piece again… then you’ve never really loved One Piece in the first place

If you can’t see how One Piece has completely diverted itself from what it once was, you never really loved One Piece in the first place. I grew up on that shit dude as someone who has grown with the characters… trust me that they have lost their purpose. Take a deep analytical look and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

They basically told me it stops being good past the point where I last stopped and gave a lot of good, convincing reasons why it’s just not worthwhile to continue it. I watched all available episodes of it 3 times, once when it was around 600 something episodes, once when it was around 700 something episodes, and once when it was around 800 something episodes. I LOVED that show. And yet I could never quite ignore the faults I mentioned enough to not feel a bit guilty about that love.

You grew up on One Piece and failed to understand the entire point of it. Even the little things in the story add up to each other and it’s no one’s fault but yours if you fail to comprehend it.

Do you not understand the concept of the void century and the world government making specific buster calls? That IS the threat. “One Piece isn’t what it once was”, no, you just failed to understand what it is was since the beginning and that’s okay. Every single point you’ve made sounds like you read it without comprehending any of the fine details.
