I can’t help but feel like the story would have been better if instead of having a moment of redemption in the hospital, endeavor had turned heel because of all the pressure on him and the fact that he’s already one of the more questionably motivated heroes. By having him turn evil you force deku to question his worldview about whether heroes are all intrinsically good and how power actually does corrupt. It also fixes a lot of the issues of the villains having very flat characters by giving AFO

Something he couldn’t have planned for, and therefore a chance to show how he actually adapts rather than just saying it, plus you can then have shigaraki truly crash out again because AFO would realize that endeavor turned villain is actually a better means to his end because public support would already be there to some extent because of endeavor’s hero status

Not cooking ngl, I prefer the more nuanced look of how people that do good can be incredibly selfish and do bad, just because it’s human nature. It would be so easy to just make endeavor a bad guy who snapped but that’s not interesting. I prefer a good guy who’s done shitty things that affects not only his family but the whole world. Dabi was literally a nuclear level threat and it ALL came out of the way endeavor lived his life. Now that was interesting

Especially because it does still challenge the hero society Deku built up in his head. His heroes can be incredibly morally pure but there have been others that were selfish, hateful, or did shady things just to keep the society functioning. Think of how many heroes are in it for money or vanity, think of lady Nagant, think of endeavor, of death arms, yoroi musha
