😭 I saw this thumbnail too and outright rejected it on the basis that “angelpunk” sounds unmistakably like a corny niche label that was applied in retrospect for the express purpose of grouping these titles together

After looking into it I found a scathing takedown that pretty much confirms how you’ve hit the nail on the head. Much of this isn’t even researched properly

I generally like slightly-niche categorical labels like “dieselpunk” and “splatterpunk” (etc, the ones less popularly known than cyberpunk & steampunk) so it was a red flag to me that I hadn’t heard of this one before lol. especially given that I’m a massive nerd for Evangelion
