Most teens don’t really understand what sexual assault is. Many joke about it, the anime represents that well. It’s a metaphor. The reason why there is so many sexual and SA related themes is because that’s what a teenager’s experience involves, especially women. It’s SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable.

ALSO aliens/monsters etc aren’t given the “ha ha they’re a pervert teehee” treatment they’re treated like villains and enemies for the characters to defeat. They’re framed as gross weirdos who get what gross weirdos deserve. And for Turbo Granny she experiences a huge character change. She’s defeated in her original form, confined to a cat body and forced to work with them, ultimately doing things to help them out of care. She’s forced to change and isn’t treated like a good guy until she does

it doesn’t really matter anyways. most people think we’re weird already for watching certain animes so just enjoy what you want. i think the show doesn’t do a good job at it at all. dan da dan DOES NOT even talk about the themes at all.

okarun is respectful to her. i did a deep dive on dan da dan for a paper for school bc i was talking about the history of anime culture and how it’s changing. im glad the series paints those acts as repulsive and disgusting but what they lack is showing how the characters go through it. that’s what needs to change about dan da dan

lastly as someone who’s been SA’d i find it weird how they use her trauma as a power up for her powers. symbolism is great, it’s appreciated all the time…however, dan da dan doesn’t use it well. overall i still think it’s weird, and it’s ok. many many people would agree with me .
