I never said it was ok. Some shonen actually portray women well. Shonen is the demographic for teenage boys. I was just letting u know the different anime demographics to have you to watch some anime and not give up on it. U should be asking what are some anime with well written women
I’d have to argue that the men in JJK are not sexualized or very minimally so. Just because lots of people simp over a character does not inherently mean they are “sexualized” in the source media. Is Gojo pretty? Absolutely. But is that portrayed in a sexual manner? I’d say no. Goofy if anything.
I can totally agree that the anime added/embellished some scenes to be a bit more fan-service-esque, but I’d still have to argue that it’s relatively tame! Especially when compared to fan service of female characters in other series from the same genre or demographic. Like you mentioned, JJK exhibits some great examples of the “female gaze”, which is completely different from the male gaze. We see some abs on occasion, sure, but never are any of these men objectified or reduced to eye candy.
And despite Gege being a known FREAK, I can appreciate him for not even sexualizing underage characters. Any of the characters you could argue are even remotely “sexualized” in JJK are grown ass men, so frankly idgaf if people get their freak on over Gojo or Nanami, lol. I know that’s not what you’re saying, but I see soooo many people, particularly male fans forgetting this aspect when they criticize female jjk fans. 😭 saw a guy saying Gojo fans are worse than grown men into loli… sir.
I guess I’m just not seeing where they’re being objectified? Bc I think otherwise we mostly agree. Maybe I’m blind lol, but I’d genuinely love if you could give me some examples of that! :D Even in the scenes you shared above they still feel like important, well written characters more so than objects of desire. As in if you took them out there, there would be a gaping hole in the story. Their actions, emotions, and feelings are tangible and important.
