They should come up with a word for animes like girls last tour or happy sugar life where it’s not a good adaption but it’s amazing for fans of the series by how perfectly they adapt the art and feel of the source material

!!! Happy Sugar Life appreciator spotted, omg. that show was a surprisingly thoughtful look at the cycle of abuse imo (in spite of its schlocky elements), but I almost never bring it up publicly because a lot of people would just presume I’m a lolicon 😭

It takes such a basic level of reading comprehension to understand it’s about abuse and different kinds of love to know it’s not a lolicon manga but literally no one can figure that out for some reason 😭😭😭 Wish they didn’t cut so much from the show but God damn that art was made by a fan of the series

NO EXACTLYYY, like not to overshare but I was groomed growing up myself and I felt like the author has a really strong in-depth understanding of how that experience wrecks your brain. focusing on a character who exploits a child but isn’t an adult yet herself and doesn’t totally understand what she’s doing makes for such a fascinating exploration of how & why people can unwittingly grow into predators in spite of thinking of themself as anti-abuse

like how her idea of love got warped into total selfishness, reduced to the sense of needing “sweetness” to counteract the “bitter”. ugggghhh it’s so devastating. I love a heavy-handed cautionary tale

FRFR as someone with diagnosed aspd and ptsd seeing someone I could relate to genuinely get warped and twisted by being forced to go through the motions they weren’t comfortable with and do what was expected of them was such a rare sight to see in any form of media
