The way people talk about DanDaDan you would think it's a hentai about toddlers.

It is ok to make content about uncomfortable and bad scenarios as long as it doesn’t glorify it. These events happen and ignoring them doesn’t make them go away. People pick and chose when to care. Nobody cares in Game of thrones but they do with anime (which is arguably a better medium for it cause there’s no real people/faces involved)

Fr like the first episode wasn't even that bad. The scene ends pretty quickly too

Yeah I completely understand being turned off by the first episode, I’m not gonna FORCE somebody to like it. But it genuinely doesn’t do it again until the finale basically and it’s not even sexualized (In my opinion) it was made to make you uncomfortable because it made me as a woman extremely uncomfortable and my friends…not horny. I just don’t like when mfs that watch worse shit that happens frequently, or watch minors get intentionally sexualized for laughs and don’t bat an eye.

Like the Bath scene you don’t see any bit of Momo’s body, she’s fully covered by the water. The scene is creepy and tense and you can see she’s scared. And again there was zero sexualization in my opinion. So even then I don’t view it as perv shit because nothing sexy is happening. That’s just me tho

You and #4 are so right. It's not made to be laughed at or be gooner material. You're supposed to be uncomfortable with it. The bath scene is genuinely frightening, but people can't have any nuance about these things if they're uncomfortable.

THIS! They act like the whole show, every episode is just all about minors experiencing SA for laughs and to make people horny

Genuinely most of the show is just amazing character dynamics bouncing off each other. Momo and Okarun fighting for their lives with autistic friends. ADULT fanservice of the grandma. Or just sad shit. It lowkey rarely is blatantly sexual like og dragon ball with underage Bulma or the entirely of one piece. Or even with My dress up darling for a modern example.

Like again- I’m not gonna sit here and FORCE people to watch it. Everybody has their boundaries and limits. But I do have people acting like it’s the worst thing ever when it genuinely isn’t, I wish that first scene never happened because it’s unnecessary in my opinion. I’m fine with the aliens and them being weird but I didn’t like the shot of the ripping her clothes off. And I don’t like the close up on her stomach and the “Arosual wave” shit. So I get it 100%

Fully agree. I love One Piece too, and although the fans do complain about a lot of things (rightfully so most of the time), there's still a lot of things the fans neglect to mention or just don't seem to care about when it comes to the sexual harm towards some minor characters. Even Naruto, which I also love, has some weird shit towards minors that is just made for laughs that nobody seems to bat an eye at.

Exactly! I also wanna mention when I think of sexualizing I mean the classic anime way. Panning, focusing on their body parts, unnecessarily skimpy or tight clothes, etc. Again I might just be saying this as a non-sexually deprived woman but the only female character in the ANIME (I haven’t read the manga) that is overly sexualized is the Granny. Momo is second because of a few shots that happen very rarely like mentioned. And that’s the first episode imo. Her body itself isn’t sexual

I have very mixed feelings about the first scene, but I mainly think it could've been done better and understand why it turns people away. I think I need to rewatch it to form a better opinion but regardless I don't like the attitude that nonfans have towards fans or the show itself that every piece of it is made for fan service and we're all gooners for watching it, then turn around and watch their own gooner shows. (Nothing wrong with gooner shows and anime, I just don't see DanDaDan being one

Exactly. Like I personally don’t enjoy most gooner shows I find it unnecessary and obnoxious. I think the only ones I actively enjoy are Panty and stocking, Fairytail, and Black Lagoon if you consider than fanservice. But yeah if DandaDan was a gooner show I’d probably have a harder time watching it, like if it pulled a Euphoria or a Fairytail every other episode that shit would be turned off immediately and I’d only watch the show through clips.

Yes! While I get why people don't want to see that, just simply seeing a body doesn't inherently mean it's meant to be sexual. There definitely are cases of this, but I don't see Momo's body being shown to be taken in a sexual way. I'm also mainly an anime only (I've only read a few chapters when waiting for season 2), so the manga could be different, but I don't see DanDaDan catering to that type of fan service.

Felt that. I don't watch a lot of gooner anime, and the ones I have watched were when I was a lot younger and didn't fully grasp the context of everything in the media and societally. Plus, the shows you've mentioned and the ones I've seen (Soul Eater and Kakeguri come to mind), are still heavily beloved by many people while still understanding there's Tons of fan service in each.

Yeah from what I HEARD the manga is in hell rn and I’m scared lmao. But people do need to understand seeing a body especially a non-nude body doesn’t mean it’s sexual. I had a specific example but I forgot what it was, but I feel like Greek statues are a great example of this. Yes there’s nudity not that doesn’t equal go jack off. It’s just a body.

LOL I've also seen a few critics about where the manga is headed and it makes me scared. And I think the Greek statues are a great example too. Everyone has an understanding that those aren't meant to be sexual and jerk off material but simply just showcasing the human body.

Bro even as a kid I hated the fanservice in Soul eater, especially that damn cat it was so in your face and annoying. I didn’t even find her attractive which made me even more pissed. Kakeguri tho was my literal gay awakening at 12 years old, I was already gay ofc but it just amped it up. It was absurd tho.

Same. I love Soul Eater to this day but the fan service is Not It. I already knew I was bi at that point but also found Blaire to be annoying and a waste of a character. Kakeguri definitely helped fuel my love for girls but it 100% could've been set in a college setting and be soo much better. Besides that, great show imo.

Factsss. Kakeguri in a college setting would be SO so much better, again I was a literal child when I watched the show. I don’t agree with the over-sexualization of the teens as an adult. But college setting gambling gooner show for the lesbians would be top tier.
