‘Higurashi: When They Cry’ is also great! Though I would recommend going back and forth with the first and second season each chapter. Definitely worth the watch!

I’d recommend just reading the VN the anime really doesn’t do it justice at all

seconding reading the vn. anime is definitely better than other adaptations of ryukishi's work (looks at umineko), but it still messes up alot of stuff. shion's chapter in kai for example is completely scuffed and misses alot about her. apart from that, NEVER watch higurashi gou and sotsu no matter what.
