teo main things (1) I think the series and the fans both do this — conflation of suffering with depth. Not saying that suffering can’t be deep, but the series doesn’t do anything to narratively back it up. (2) inconsistent and lack of characterization, esp for female chars — basically every single female character in the series seems interesting until the second they meet the main character, at which point they lose any semblance of characterization…
