If you like psychological thrillers, Death note and Monster (2004) though Monster moves at a bit of a slower pace. Dan Da Dan is very goofy and funny and has a lot of great action but also has a lot of realness to it emotion wise and lots of good tension. I’m sure you’ve heard it before but Attack on Titan is an absolutely amazing show all around. No fan service and insane plot with complex and compelling characters. Could not recommend more.
HxH was the first one that got me into anime. The show Orange is a chill romance that I really enjoyed. I started watching with subtitles, but dubbed English audio might work best for you. I would do research into good dubbed anime. I LOVE 91 days and Darker than black. Both don’t really sexualize characters and can be pretty serious. Darker than black is more fun and confusing while 91 days is very short and more serious and mature.
I forgot to say, but 91 days and Darker than Black are my favorite dubs. So look into those if you’re looking for dubs specifically. If you get into it, then you have plenty of time to get into animes that every anime watcher must try (AoT, SAO S1, HxH, etc) and you’ll figure out which demographic and themes fit you best.
