he’s not playing a game, i think he genuinely didn’t know then, but he was trying to avoid disappointing you by suggesting a different time rather than being straight up about the plans his roommates (assumedly) sprung on him that ruined his plans. I’m assuming you’re both young so i wouldn’t hold it against him, he’s still learning how to navigate this stuff
