Sorry but my mom cannot cook. I thought I was a picky eater until I went to college. She’ll boil plain chicken and put bottled BBQ on it and call it a day. Boil pasta and put canned sauce on it and call it a day. It just doesn’t taste good at ALL

Don’t tell me to cook bc I’ve moved out and cook on my own now but I’m talking about growing up and family dinners

Also like. Thanksgiving at my dad’s house is like southern style food, flavorful, from gardens, delicious. My moms side is all canned food and microwave quick meals with zero seasoning

That’s sad. Did your mom grow up without money or maybe lack of access to food?? Her not knowing how to cook, that sounds like an issue that started in her home. I mean technically she “can” cook but canned/microwaveable foods aren’t really hearty. If you and your mom have a good relationship, I’d say whenever you do go back home-maybe sneak in a “hey mom, we should cook together”. And just find a yummy SEASONED dish😭 I prefer tik tok when looking for things to make:))
