It’s not wrong to be sad, you’re allowed to miss her, you built a relationship with her and you did the right thing and returned her even if it was hard, you’re allowed to grieve the short time you had with her, I recommend checking out your shelter and getting another dog that’s just yours

Her on a missing poster while out of town. The dog I took in was about an hour away from her real home. I got in contact and learned that she had broken off of her leash in the vet's parking lot the day they went to vaccinate and chip her. Once we verified that she was their dog, I drove her over and returned her to her home. I'm happy she's reunited but I feel horrible because I'm sad that she's with them now. I hold no hostility or anything towards her family, but I feel sad that she's gone-

And when I asked my friends for support they said that I should be happy she's home. Which I am, I am so happy for both her and her humans. But is it wrong that I feel sad she's gone?

I'm not sad that she's safe. I said pretty clearly that I'm very happy she's back home. I just kinda miss her. I'm asking if it's wrong to miss her, not that I'm sad she's been reunited with her family. Two very different things.
