Its not about being woke lol, but you're not crazy for being bewildered. People who look to DNA tests for a cultural or ethnic identity that they weren't raised with usually have shit they need to figure out on their own, but instead of doing that they run away from themselves or what they were raised with

I just feeel like ppl are using dna testing for the wrong reasons, like it’s was truly made for ppl who are looking for their family

I agree to certain extent, my mother took off and cut off all of our extended family, and I took a dna test to know ppl to know who I am bc it’s a hard topic to get a story straight, like I didn’t even know my cousins at all I missed her quinceañera and turned out we had gone to same high school too

That's true! I was largely thinking of white people who find like 3% Indigenous in theirs and claim that instead of acknowledging that being white has its privileges in a racist society

(To be clear, those privileges are obviously not a good thing - but that privilege has to be acknowledged with efforts made to support those society is built to oppress, and not just conveniently ignored)
