Update! I found out today my bf called them on my behalf to explain & cancelled my appt & had them hold a time slot that is after the proposal to get braces put on. I know it seemed silly to some but I’m glad I’ll be saying yes to someone that gets me🥹
I need adult braces.. am I justified in lowkey freaking tf out bc my bf is supposed to be proposing soon and I don’t want to be wearing fucking braces

I’m glad you guys found a solution you’re happy with and I wish you and your soon to be fiancée luck and happiness in your relationship! There’s nothing wrong with having braces as an adult, but there’s also nothing wrong with being a little worried about it

Just make sure the delay isn’t going to have long-term consequences on your teeth… otherwise, hell yeah!

Shouldn’t more than it already has, but luckily he had them mark off an appt time that’s like immediately after it so I can get in asap to have them put on. I might try to squeeze in engagement pics first to avoid the whole taking them off and putting them back on just for that, but also since those are professional pics it might be easier for someone the photoshop them out in that case

No. Apparently older, larger brackets commonly make people’s teeth flair outwards. This happened to me VERY badly. She told me by my X-rays she was surprised I could fully close my mouth, apparently most people with it as bad as me can’t always close their lips together fully. I might be able to switch to Invisalign at the end, the last few months maybe, but as of now it’s not possible to pull them back like they need with trays. :/ Very disappointing bc spent 6 years in braces as a teen just-

-for it to ultimately be the issue now. But I guess the newer technology of brackets are pretty small and helpful in pulling them back straight. And they don’t need rubber bands either! So that’s a plus I guess. They may be pretty inconspicuous when I do get them.

Oh that sucks. I’m so sorry. I bet the braces will look better than you think though. I’ve seen people with adult braces and honestly it took me a good long while to notice. Good luck! And congrats on the engagement!! That’s awesome
