I keep my apartment door locked 24/7, but I only lock my room door at night. I’ve been living with these people for a few months now, but I still don’t trust leaving the door unlocked at night

I don’t lock my door when I am home because a man is in the house. As a just walk in person I make a note with last mile directional advice and parking as a courtesy. You are not an ass just living in a diverse environment

your should always lock your door regardless of who else is in side because you don’t know the intentions of the person coming and i said if you live in an apartment because it’s really disrespectful to tell someone to just walk in knowing they’ll probably have a hard time finding your place and attempt walk in to another persons unit by mistake it’s happened way too many times to excuse atp for me sorry but idk you should always meet guests at the door unless they’ve been there countless times

cause again… you could literally be telling a stranger to just walk in and allow them to believe that’s an open invite.

I don’t live in fear, I have an open door policy. A locked home is so much less inviting to guests. I’m still working on my hosting skills I hosted my grad program thanksgiving pot luck on a beer pong table and my professor sat on a bucket all normalized. I think I am usually “too busy hosting” to great guests at the door which is a major life oversight for who I want to be. I’m genuinely thankful for the reflection. Stay safe.

…girl be so fucking for real rn. i’m perfectly safe behind my LOCKED door YOU stay safe cause that’s the dumbest excuse ive ever heard. the whole point to living your door is to be uninviting to strangers and believe it or not no one’s gonna judge u for it cause it’s a literal safety standard??? open door policy is so weird bro unless ur strapped 24/7 ur just playing w ur life like

Bro... The lock on your door is the only thing stopping an armed man from robbing or raping you. I know that sounds a little extreme, but if you are the only person on your floor with your door unlocked there is absolutely zero reason for them to target anyone else but you.

exactly like i literally saw a video the other day of a dude who just walked in cause the door was unlocked and he heard a woman’s voice and kept going like…. if he was armed i highly doubt another man being there would’ve stopped him.

see now this is living safely not in fear!!! only reason i don’t lock my bedroom door at night is cause it could be a fire safety hazard (like say the kitchens on fire and the handles too hot to touch to escape) but other than that yes yes yes 👏
