still no. romanticizing rape isn’t better than rape. I see grown women all over TikTok romanticize religious men who have sworn off dating and being like “I’d shoe up to his church dressed slutty” or underage / freshly 18 hockey player boys. it’s making women sexualize innocent men, just as video porn makes men sexualize innocent women. both are bad and it just sounds like you’re trying to cope

ok wait hold on I never said anything about rape — obviously I think people romanticizing rape in books is wrong, same w pedophilia. I was just joking that NORMAL smut in books is more ethical than actual porn, since there aren’t actual sex workers. I do understand what u mean by how it’s influencing women to sexualize men more but unfortunately that’s on the person for being weird. also i don’t actually read smut books, I barely read at all if i do it’s most like some fun fiction book

sex scenes in books are not the same as only reading a book if the plot is pure smut. which is the topic of conversation. yes, it’s on the person for only reading books if they have smut. just like it’s on people who choose to watch porn.

so like ur original comment said “can’t read a book unless it has smut in it” so that means the conversation is about allllll books with smut in it. I think ur mad for like no reason bc I do agree with you, I never said you were wrong.

I’m not mad. I’m explaining to you what I mean. I never said books with sex scenes in it. people who ask for smut or spice in a book have a clear idea of what they’re asking for and that’s 10% plot, 90% “spicy” sex scenes. they don’t want just normal vanilla sex, they want “dark romance” or taboo

who gives a fuck abt ethicality that doesn't disprove OPs point. it's fine to read books w smut but it's a problem if you ONLY read books w smut

Op if you genuinely think books describing sex are anywhere near as unethical as actual porn you’re delusional. I get how the rhetoric in both can be harmful and I agree but porn requires human actors who are often abused/underage / underpaid..etc. A book describes sex involving fictional characters. Let’s be fr here

Babes posting a yikyak doesn’t make you arbiter of approved comment section topics lmao. Also my point wasn’t off topic either. As #3 and myself correctly pointed out, consuming written porn material is more ethical than consuming video porn because there’s zero chance a real human could be abused in its creation.

Then you go and put words in their mouth acting like they were justifying books that romanticize rape when you were the first one to introduce that topic. I agree that books that romanticize rape are obviously abhorrent. Can you agree that written porn more ethical as far as its lack of human actors goes?

this conversation has absolutely nothing to do with porn stars. read my post. I’m speaking about people who are so addicted to porn that they cannot read a book without it being more smut than plot and how this affects them. can you agree that this doesn’t sound like I was comparing porn stars to book characters? but instead porn readers to porn watchers?

Read my comment! I’m very aware of what you mean and I agree. You’re saying that porn reading can be just as harmful as porn watching for the person consuming the media. I agree. However 3 made a very good point that for people outside of ourselves, consuming written work is much more ethical because other humans can’t be harmed in its creation.

I’m pushing back on this so much because 3 brought up a really good point and you said they were wrong then when the explained themselves you suddenly decided you didn’t want to talk about what they were talking about. Why you gotta be that way? You post made a good point and 3 made a good point, and they don’t need to be mutually exclusive

there’s nothing to push back on 🙄 you think you’re being “alpha” and “playing devils advocate.” this is YikYak. get a grip. all I said was this post isn’t about porn stars and it’s not. I’m not arguing about the ethics of porn under a post about the affects of being addicted to reading porn. I’ve had to repeat myself maybe 4 times now, I’m not sure what you can’t understand. go. make. your. own. post. if. you. want. to. talk. about. the. ethics. of. porn. stars.

1. I’m not talking about porn stars, I’m talking about women (sometimes men) that get abused and recorded and have those videos published to porn cites. This is a huge ethical concern which is why it came up in a conversation that’s weighing the differences between smut and porn.

2. I’m sorry that you feel that way but I’m gonna be honest, me acknowledging your point and asking you to consider someone else’s isn’t inherently combative, it’s something people do in conversation, which is what this app is for. Idk if you’re acting this way because this post got some upvotes or because you’re just like this or what but it’s a bummer having an unpleasant interaction like this that’s completely unnecessary.

don’t play dumb. you know what I’m referring to when I stay porn stars. I don’t need to spell out for you who this does and does not include in this context. it’s implied. I’m also still not sure why you’re wasting my time and filling up my post with off topic bs when you can just make your own post if you wanna talk about it so bad. bc this ISNT ABOUT PEOPLE IN PORN what the actual fuck is so hard to understand

okay earlier you said I said it isn’t an ethical problem which is absolutely untrue. all I said was it’s off topic. and it is. this is not the post to argue the ethics of porn. it’s unnecessary that I had to ask you 8 times to speak on the topic being spoken about. literally giving when women are like “I’m scared to walk outside at night” and men are like “well we could be attacked walking at night too.” okay ?? no one said otherwise. that’s a completely different topic and that’s why it’s not-

You felt perfectly ok to engage with the idea above but then checked out once 3 started to explain themselves. I don’t think asking someone to critically consider someone else’s perspective is playing dumb at all. But you’ve made yourself clear that you’re not gonna do it and I genuinely don’t wanna bug you about it anymore so I won’t. Have a good one fr ✌️

2. being spoken about right now. and it shouldn’t be continuously brought up to overshadow the actual topic of conversation. reflect on that. I’m getting combative bc you’re ignoring me and continue to say something off topic. absolutely NO ONE said porn is ethical so I don’t even know why you feel the need to argue this so bad. it’s unpleasant bc YOU made it unpleasant by not listening and by continuing to try and change the topic. it’s unnecessary.

that did not happen 🙄 I thought this would be a 2 second conversation and then we could move on. but 3 kept trying to say that I suggested reading a book with a sex scene makes you a porn addict. I never said that and I will not be repeating myself. then they tried to switch up to “explain themselves” and I’m really not interested in that or you. and you clearly DO want to bug me considering you tried to turn my post into YOUR topic about 10 times without listening to me. get a grip.
