called me a bunch of names and told me i was acting like a child when all I said was “By the way that was my birthday cake you ate next time could you just ask permission before eating my stuff.” Since then they have boldly labeled every item they own, taking the bathroom all morning, and slamming stuff and using the fact that they are men (i am a woman) to boss me around. AITA for telling them not to eat all of my stuff?

NTA. Wild power trip with a hint of sexism, especially if you explained how rough the day was. I’d be concerned about your living environment too bc if they act that dramatic over a minor problem, that’s a ticking time bomb to a major problem.

that’s legitimately insane. It’s one thing to share or borrow food, but a cake?? And the entire thing?? What in the fuck would ever be the reasoning for why that would be ok? You’re within your rights to completely chew him out over that, and even demand he pays for it or something, that’s not at all cool

it’s just gotten to the point i don’t really feel comfortable because they are constantly slamming cabinets and doors

Wait for them to do it again, record them for evidence and try to make a case on them. After that, whether you bring it to your local police, landowner for your apartment you share, or just someone who can help you, you need solid proof to have action be done against them for it. Once you get that, I’d say report them

People can’t live together unless they’re fucking. Drop the roommate and get a long term romantic partner.

I guess if you’ve left things out to share before, that would kind of make sense - to take one piece, not the entire rest of the cake.
