your roommate is being rude and you are completely justified in requesting permission before use. You can even say you posted here and show responses if they seem confused. Sadly I think some people see what they can get away with until a boundary is put up. So please put one up love

You aren’t being rude, it’s your things. I don’t like others touching my things so I tell them that. If they do it I remind them that I don’t like it. In your case you just want them to ask. So you would say th same thing but just ask
