Holding up his phone. Without even addressing me, he asks the kids if they've seen this kid. Obviously the kids stop working and go check out the photo on his phone. They start asking stuff like "what did he do? Is he in trouble?" And all that stuff cause they're nosey middle schoolers. When it settles down, I tell the kids they need to get back to work before pulling the resource officer aside. I told him that next time he needs to check with the teacher first before interrupting class-
And to please leave. Even though it was a sub day, the teacher was having me help students with missing work so the students were supposed to be getting important work done. If the officer had just come in and asked me, I would've been able to send up at least 5 kids who were done, but no he had to just barge in and distract EVERYONE. At the end of the day, I was notified that he didn't appreciate what I said to him. But he was the one who interrupted my class???
if he's going to the school you should too. let them know his unprofessional and disruptive behavior distracted the kids from important work well beyond what was needed for his job, made your day harder, and reflects on the school overall. let them know he barged in, did not request permission or ask for assistance from you as an adult and professional, and commandeered your class
