AITA? My roommate is telling me I can’t have my ESA in our apartment because of her chronic illness (POTS). She sleeps all day and said she would leave if I did not send my dog home. Now, she is telling me I have to find someone to sublet. I refuse.

She said she doesn’t sleep because my dog barks constantly. She’s a mini weenie (7 pounds), and if anything, she will only whine in her kennel throughout the day. Roommate also sleeps a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight away each day. She does nothing to help manage her pots (drinks, smokes, vapes, etc.).

How does the animal affect her POTS?

as someone with POTS, sensory input like noise stimulation (barking/whining) can genuinely have an awful impact on energy levels and functional ability. sometimes it’s not even about how loud a sound is so much as the fact that there is a constant sound

POTS can cause sensitivity to sensory input such as sound. So a dog barking and or whining all day can be detrimental.

Doesn’t particularly sound like it if she’s barking and whining all day. I would give your roommate more leeway if you didn’t also say that she didn’t do anything to help her POTS.
