And he didn’t clean them, mold was forming, it smelled etc and no one could use the sink because it was so full. So I said screw it and put all his dishes in the dishwasher and ran it. He got pissed because I ruined his cast iron pizza pan but I was pissed because despite asking him to do the dishes multiple times it turned into a biological hazard. AITA?

You can't ruin cast iron. You can nuke it and reseason it, and it'll be like new. Cast iron is a higher maintenence material, if your friend doesn't know how to nuke it and reseason they shouldn't own it. It also shouldn't be sitting in a sink.

Also as a note, I didn’t realize it was cast iron. I’ve never really used cast iron so I didn’t recognize that’s what it was

I mean as a chef that sucks to hear, yes you can reseason it I’m sure it will be fine, if your roommate didn’t want the pan to be ruined they should’ve just cleaned the dishes!! NTA. Hanlon’s Razor… you weren’t being malicious, you simply did not know.
