AITA For dressing "unprofessionally". I'm a student teacher at a pretty big hs. I always make sure to have my lanyard on and I do dress professionally. I teach art though so I normally dress as casual as I can so I don't ruin my nicer clothes. Today I-

NTA different schools have different dress codes, teachers at mine would be in sweats to bodycon dresses to suits and it didn't really matter. If your school didn't reprimand you for it then don't think to much about it.

hall monitor is just a dumbass, what student would be sitting alone at a teacher’s desk? they stereotyped based on estimating your age wrong, blew it out of proportion, and then used your clothes as an excuse.

Was confronted during my planning period because I was alone in the classroom grading papers. My mentor was making copies so it was just me. The hall monitor assumed I was a student and started yelling at me that I can't be in a room unsupervised. When I showed her my lanyard, she stopped but told me that my outfit is too casual for a teacher. She later reported me to the principal who then had my mentor contact my supervisor from the university. We had a meeting and while both my mentor and-

Supervisor agreed that what I've been wearing is fine, the principal suddenly started urging other mentor teachers to watch what their student teachers wear.

Your principal is just doing this so they don’t have to deal w tattle tale ish. It’s not fair, or professional either, but it is helpful to them so here you are.
