I mean for friends and family I actually give them fun names or at the very least a pfp. But people who I don't text regularly just have their first name and how I know them so I know who I'm talking to. I don't think that's rude so please let me know how y'all see this.

No I always do this. I usually add it to the company name section but it also helps keep everything straight when I don’t fully know a person yet. If I don’t have a contact picture sometimes I won’t always remember their last name lol

I love doing this and sometimes I keep them even if I become better friends with someone because it’s silly to think they used to just be “Jack neighbor”

my roomate’s name is followed by “from writing” because that’s when we meet LOL and it’s still that in my phone and we graduated over a year ago, now it’s a long running inside joke

Absolutely not! For one, it’s your contacts. And two, it would be a lot worse if you didn’t and have a conversation thinking they’re a different person. I have way too many people with the same name. The ones who I didn’t do that with are going to get deleted as after so many years of not using it they can’t be that important 🤷‍♀️ Maybe that’s rude, but I didn’t employ this strategy until a few years ago.

I do this all the time, especially when I’m quickly trying to add their info. Bonus points if there are multiple people with that name already in your contacts

No, and for me I know a lot of people by just their first name and I know a lot of people by the same name (lots of Ava’s, Sam’s, Will’s, etc.) so it helps me keep track, especially if we’re not all that close or don’t message frequently
