Aita for saying what everyone else was thinking and now I somehow have to be the one to apologize? Like I was frustrated when I made my statement but it was basically “it’s hard for us to be successful when your leadership has failed us”

1) what was said 2) why was it said 3) who was it said to and in front of 4) why do YOU think everyone else didnt say it even though they are supposedly thinking it

We hired a (what I’m thinking is) a crazy woman to direct us and she’s very petty and passive aggressive and never shows up with a plan, and is noticeably making things up on the spot

1) she pettily said “oh you so you all forgot this thing we worked on?”, and I responded with “it’s hard for us to remember what to do here when you change it everytime we come back to it” and I said it frustrated so it came out more stern 2) it was said because we forgot which is not on us at all 3) I said it to her with everyone else involved there 4) everyone else was too nice to want to stand up to her

That sounds like it sucks, but even if you think everyone’s thinking the same thing as you, that doesn’t mean you should say it. I’m not saying you aren’t potentially justified in your feelings, but I don’t think your reaction was mature or reasonable.

Here’s the part I’m struggling with… is it not mature to vocalize what’s going wrong and explaining to the person who caused things to go wrong why it’s going wrong? I understand that being frustrated and coming off (likely) more aggressive may not have been the best mindset to state it in, but I think what I did isn’t anything I should be forced to apologize for

Can it be mature to do that? Yes. But that doesn’t mean it’s always mature inappropriate to do it. You’re confusing addressing the situation with telling someone off. Your words to her aren’t going to make her change her ways or improve things. Standing up for what you believe in and pointing out things that are wrong can be a grown mature thing to do, but snapping back at someone who’s been pissing you off isn’t that.
