I know I’d be the asshole, but hypothetically if I just blow up at a customer over their ignorance at not looking at our closing times (which is quite literally on the door they use, in big letters)? Tf u want a set of 4 tires put on 30 min b4 close for?

Unfortunately I think in most places it’s literally the worker’s duty to help the customer as long as it’s working hours but I’d definitely be mad if I was in your shoes. I feel bad about going to fast food an hour before they close tho 😂

I mean if yall offer walkins for that, then yall should have a rule posted for cutoff times. Do you have that?

We had a 14 top walk in 3 minutes before we would officially shut down the restaurant tonight so I’d say it’s needed some times

We sell them the tires and then proceed to tell them we aren’t gonna do it tonight and they will have schedule it the next best day. They typically get upset or pissy. But cmon, by the time I’m through with selling and then writing up a ticket, another 10-15 min are gone. Another 5-10 for paperwork. Then the whole installation. They don’t got the damn time idc how bald the tires are. U are right tho it is our duty and we do it appropriately, just annoying for customers to act entitled.

I totally get it! It’s such a dilemma because you know it’s your duty as the employee but like… it sucks ass. I’ve never been in service for very long at all, I switched to animal care very quickly and sometimes they can be opinionated enough 😂

Nope, we’ve expressed it to our managers that we do. Although it’d be up to Sams club Home office to do that, in which case they’d want us to take that set of 4. Thankfully my managers are on our side when it comes to needing them there. It’d take us an hour over our designated leaving time, which our managers don’t want to give out OT.

I hated that shit with restaurants, there wasn’t no reason in the world for a party of 10+ to walk into a restaurant right before close. After we’ve done all the pre-closing stuff. Only for some ignorant assholes to come walking in at 10:55 at night ordering well done steaks causing us to dirty up our stations again. Sometimes I just wish for a day where employees can just say whatever they want to customers.

I wish more regular restaurants would implement the rule where it’s like “our kitchen closes at 9, we are open till x” like most bar restaurants do. Then it doesn’t create stress for the servers or kitchen since they are still expecting to be there past that time to clean. And then they aren’t required to do any of that pre-cleaning before the restaurant officially closes to get out early. Then the servers also are able to be like sorry no we stopped taking orders at 9 and not be in a pissy mood

Couldn’t have said it any better. My time to clock out is my time to clock out, I’m cool staying 10-15 over. But 30+ is too much, especially when the place I used to work at closed at 11pm and I had school to deal with as well.

Start telling customers that. Hey I can’t do this bc it’ll take longer and managers don’t give out overtime. Tell them they have the right to complain to management or post online that this happened because of OT. (Only if you think the customer is cool and won’t expose YOU)
