What if we put the kid in a large plastic orb and shove the be-orbed child in such a way that the orb is snug between the front and back seats. Problem solved!

Gang, this isn’t less safe than a normal vehicle, it’s the pillars and frame that protect you in an accident, the doors themselves are not significant protection as evidenced by the fact that they are made with low-strength steel, the pillars are what actually protects you

Ehh, I’d have to see some data even though gut instinct is I agree- especially on the motorcycle point, which is backed up by data- but I mean it did pass safety standards.

I’m well aware. The jeep wrangler passed all regulation to be able to be produced and sold. That includes with the doors removed. No violations of the regulation have occurred here

upvote 17 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 1d

Imagine equating legal to right. The standards say the doors must remain closed and latched in an accident because not having doors means almost guaranteed horrible death. Jeep are exempt from these rules because the doors ā€œaren’t considered structural componentsā€ btw IIHS does not test jeeps without doors and even with them their expert safety ratings were not impressive. I’ll quote them for you, ā€œthe back seat passenger would likely receive severe head and neck injuriesā€ for an adult dummy.

Ok, go write a letter to Jeep and be sure to tell the IIHS to reevaluate their practices then

Lmao never said that buddy. 🤣 I literally said kids shouldn’t be allowed to ride. Much higher chance of dying on motorcycle than in a four-door. Don’t be dumb although it is entertaining

Saying if means nothing. If this, if that. What if you die tomorrow in a car accident? If if if if if…. You could do everything right, but things still happen. Better to teach good practices and boost skill.

I’d rather ride my bike than drive, accidents for bikes are usually other people’s faults, sure have a higher chance of dying but either way. Shi flying is safer than driving.

then contact Jeep. whining about this on yikyak makes you the asshole for sure, there are so many worse problems out there besides calling people bad parents to make yourself look like such a savior of children. just don’t buy a Jeep and you’ll be fine.

Children are fragile. Children cannot handle the brain damage that comes with being thrown off a bike and injured the way an adult might be able to. There’s a difference between putting your kid on a dirt bike in a big yard and riding on an open road with cars. No matter how safe YOU are, you literally can’t always account for another driver’s stupidity. It’s great you didn’t get hurt as a kid, but that doesn’t mean what you were doing was SAFE.

Definitely not. A kid in my class in grade school was riding one with her dad and fell off. She had scars all over that will never heal and is lucky to have survived. Kids shouldn’t be on motorcycles. That should be common sense
