While we were on facetime and chewed me out for abusing his cat. Is that abuse? I saw online that cats learn boundaries and how to play nicely through sound so I thought this might've resonated better. Plus I haven't seen anything negative come from this. The cat isn't biting me when he wants to be pet, and instead he uses gentler ways of communicating. He still plays a little rough but baby steps y'know?
No you’re showing the cat that the behavior hurts, the same way if you’re making them uncomfortable they may swat at you. You’re just teaching them appropriate communication and your friend is probably upset because he found it cute and a special thing. I’m assuming this cat may not have been around many cats growing up because they typically learn not to bite for attention otherwise. This is not harmful to the cat and it shows through the change in asking for attention in a positive manner
