AITA for hating my co worker. We work at a pre school and she’s always at least 30 minutes late meaning I’m here alone to set up AND watch the kids. If I didn’t get here on time then the kids wouldn’t be able to get in. My main gripe is she’s too-

Obsessed with one of the kids. I’ll be letting this kid in and my co worker will leave all the other kids unsupervised to come grab this girl from her mom’s arms. Every morning my co worker just sits in silence scrolling TikTok until this girl comes and then she’s up and sitting the girl on her lap and reading to her, etc. but ignores the other kids unless they do what this girl is doing. She said she wants to name her kid what this girls name is so I’m convinced she’s just getting paid to play-

Nta at all. You can’t get help from a supervisor for her being late. That is not fair or right for you

It’s less her being late and more how she ignores all the kids except the one with the name she wants to bake her baby

So this is actually genuinely a sign of grooming and you NEED to report this

I dint think anyone would think it’s weird bc I’m the only one who sees her just sitting on her phone until that girl shows up. When our boss shows up she plays with all of them more or less

Seconding what #2 said. Special attention and unusual favoritism are signs of grooming. Also if you’re the only staff member watching the children, the daycare may be in violation of state mandated staffing ratios.

It’s not a variation of ratio at that time. The teachers get there before majority of the kids do

It’s just annoying I have to do all the opening stuff and she gets to show up late and just sit on her phone and wait for that girl. Also I disagree with the grooming. It’s not an inappropriate relationship. She’s not treating the girl any differently than I treat her or the other kids. It’s just she sits and waits for that girl to show up and will leave the other kids unattended to pick the girl up from her mom when I’m right there already getting her. She’ll just sit in the rocking chair with-

The girl on her lap and only plays with the other kids if they’re playing what the girl wants to play. It’s kinda funny though bc the girl (she’s stubborn and won’t do things unless you carry her) always wants me to be the one to carry her and always chooses me to sit on my lap

Bruh quit playing nice I learned that the hard way. I would do so much extra shit for my first job thinking I would get a raise. Long story short once I left 2 of the new hires quit bc I was taking so much responsibility off the shift leads. Lesson learned don’t fill in the gaps if you’ve tried telling your people to pick it up and they don’t get a manger involved.
