While I get that I'll always be grouped with women, I don't want to go to this event where they're specifically looking to get ladies in the club. It just feels a bit invalidating and honestly I'd rather just spend the night at a gay bar than at some club where guys are specifically looking to bring in more women.

NTA your friends should respect you and your identity more than that and Im sorry they didnt. It is totally valid to skip out on an invalidating experience

Nta for bailing and your reason is valid. If you bailed like last second I could see reason to be a little annoyed but you gave ample time and end of day you gotta do what’s best and comfortable for you

does you not being able to go prevent your friends for going to? if so i’d say ESH bc they shouldn’t put you in that position but it’s also a dick move to bail. if not then NTA

I mean they need 6 women, and I was originally part of the 6 until I found out they specifically asked for women so technically I prevented them from keeping the reservation. But as of this morning they found someone else to go in my place. The event isn't until Saturday night so they had a total of 3 days to find someone else
