My roommate is actually so nasty. She showers like twice a week and snores so loudly and consistently every single night. I’ve talked to her about both things and she laughs them off and doesn’t change/care. I hate being in my room bc she’s always here(1)

When I tried to talk to her abt showering she said that it’s “bad to shower every day or every other day” LIKE GIRL YOUR SMELL IS WORSE…

And it smells so badly. She just got back from work and smells like shit and she just gets in bed. She said she was thrown up on at work and just doesn’t gaf about showering right away… like… am I crazy for being genuinely grossed out and not wanting her in here?? She also never cleans and I’m going to stop vacuuming her side of the room and trying to keep her stuff decent… please help, talking to her hasn’t helped and I hate it

How do people not get embarrassed or feel ashamed? If I even miss a single day of showering I get so self-conscious

Fill out the form to change roommates 🙏 it might take a while but you know it’ll be worth it to get out of there

There’s no excuse for body odor, but snoring is something she can’t control.

I’ve been doing that with Lysol. I spray her bed, desk, and this plush chair she has. It does nothing… I got another room spray this weekend but so far… it’s not looking good 😭😭

I have my woozoo fan on full blast and an air purifier. She always turns them down bc they’re loud but they help with the smell/snoring. I’ll try to open the window when she’s not here but she’s ALWAYS here…

I’ve thought about it and my hesitancy is that we’re in the same learning community. It’s small, like 25 people, so I’d still be around her constantly and I feel like it would just cause more issues. I’m talking with a friend and we might live together next year so I’m not overly overly worried, but still… I just don’t want to cause a ton of issues within the group

And I feel so bad for everyone who doesn’t know that because they don’t live with her it’s hilarious

She said in the comments how she turns on the fans and purifier to drown out the sound but the roommate doesn’t like them being off sooo

That’s how I feel about it! Ive become like OCD about it since living with her to the point my moms pointed it out (I live four hours away from campus…)

I know the snoring isn’t something she can control and that’s not what frustrates me the most. She’s aware she snores and just doesn’t care about it at all. I’ve woken up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and I can hear her snoring from a few doors down, that’s how loud it is. When I bring it up to her, she thinks it’s funny how loud it is… if that was me, I’d be mortified and want to change so I just don’t get it

idk how the dorms are set up but if you have a carpet you could try that carpet powder when youre vacuum, it normally fills the whole room w a nice scent for a while

That’s actually insane, are you able to report anything to the school and request a new roommate?

I’ve thought about it, but we’re in the same learning community and it’s really small (like 25ish people) and I think it would cause more issues. I’m planning on living with a friend next year though. I’m gonna try and talk to a GA about it too

Oh, I’ve never heard about that. I’ll look into it, god knows I’m the only one that cleans our room. Thank you so much!!

Yeah I get that, but honestly sometimes you gotta put yourself first. It’s not your fault that she is unhygienic and doesn’t want to do anything about it when you’ve discussed it multiple times. If any issues come out of it, it would be her fault.

I know, I just really worry. She’s really not a bad person and, personality wise, we get along— she’s just gross. I’m gonna try and talk to someone for sure though

Yeah I understand being worrisome about it, I would feel the exact same way. It’s really unfortunate and it sucks that you have to experience this.
