The electric bill came back and it’s $315 for just me and my one roommate. AITA for not agreeing with him that we should turn off the ac completely in middle of July to save money? I’m trying to compromise by setting the temp higher and turning off auto.

Are you guys in a house or a duplex? That’s insanely high unless you have your house set at like 65°

turning it off is a bad idea. just turn it up really high so it won’t kick on until it’s well above what’s comfortable. depending on where you live, turning the ac off completely can cause more problems down the line within the apartment

Don’t turn it off that’s insane.. but definitely turn it to like 72 at least

Depends on where you live & how often you both can be at places with proper AC

Felt this. My roommate and I have window units but I use mine for an hour or two, max, during the worst days and just a regular fan otherwise. She blasts her A/C 24/7 (it’s been running non-stop for a week now and she’s not even here… long side story about why I won’t just go and turn it off). She’s going to be footing this bill for it because I have been the one to have to remind her to turn it and every light off, reminding her when our usual 50/50 payment is due, etc. and I’m done with it.

After we both calmed down we agreed to set it to 75 to see if that’s better (it was 70 before which was prob a big reason) but we’re also going to talk to our landlords about seeing if there’s an issue with the vents
