Aita for not replacing my car? My sister was just offered an amazing job across the country. Until now she's relied on Chicago's CTA. because of where she's moving, she needs a car. I went to school in a rural area so I ended up buying a car for myself-

Even though I'm back in the city, I still enjoy having my car as he's my first one and I don't want to give him up just yet. My sister and parents want me to give my car to my sister and in return my sister will let me buy a new car with her money for a similar price. I understand that my sister needs a car quickly and that I can rely on the CTA for now, but I just can't give up my first car yet.

Why can’t she just buy her own car tho? Like if it’s you bought it, it’s yours

She just found out about this job opportunity a few days ago and leaves in a week so there's not much time to look for and buy a car for herself. It was all a very last minute opportunity

I get that but this car means so much to me. I would loan it to her if it was temporary but for now she'd be keeping it.

She's going across the country for at least 2 years, probably more.

You can definitely just loan it to her if she needs it and you don’t, then when she finds a new one in a few weeks, fly out to her and drive it back home

I thought of that but I don't know if I'll have the money to do it. I'm between jobs until late June and even then I'm focusing on paying off my debt asap. Unless I can get help with the ticket and gas, I won't be able to get the car back.

Then don’t give her the car unless she’ll help with the ticket. Family helps each other but your car is your car

Or have your sister drive it back once she gets a new car
