On top of that she would make fun of my every move when she did show up while also following me around everywhere even if she knew plenty of other people hanging out with us. I told her nicely to stop and later more directly. Once I was more direct, she doubled down and things got worse. She started making fun of my chronic illness in front of crowds of people who didn’t know about it. She also started saying bad things about my friends. I decided to tell her we should go our separate ways….
I did this over text because my friends family and I agreed that she would likely try to manipulate and change things if I tried to call or cut things off in person. I sent her a long message, nothing mean, just said we’ve changed a lot in the past few years and that I need to focus more energy towards people who better understand my condition and won’t make me feel bad about not hanging out (we were hanging out at least a few times a week and that still wasn’t enough)….
Many friends said I was too nice but she’s upset I did it over text. I told her if she has questions we can call but that doesn’t change the outcome. All of a sudden she’s busy for a week and a half and can’t call until then. I told her I don’t want to drag things on and we can either call this week or not at all. It’s not my closure. It’s hers.
