I agree with Roger Waters on most things and I also think he needs to stop giving 35 minute speeches on it during his sets, like damn man I came for your music not the choir-preaching lmfao

Like, when I saw David Byrne, he had written an explicitly politically charged song for the show, and I agreed with the song and liked that he did it. He didn’t stop the show for 30 minutes to talk about his issue of the day.

Idk why you’re downvoted, I’m against Trump but that long of speeches are ridiculous. A brief talk, 2-5 min? Sure. Not that long though.

Yeah, like I said, I agree with the dude. I fucking hate Donald Trump. I’m none too fond of Israel. I’m deeply pro-environmentalist. I agree with Roger on like all of this shit. But if I paid to see him play music, then I wanna see him play music not tell me he agrees with me.

Even 2 to 5 minutes is crazy. If someone pays to see you perform your music they shouldn’t have to sit through your non-expert political opinion. Like if I went to my therapist and they were like hey I’ve actually been trying stand up comedy want to hear my set? I would say no wtf why would I want that? Ur a therapist, do therapy. If I want to hear comedy I can go to a comedy club.

This is a ridiculous take because art is inherently personal and political. Many, if not most of the greatest musicians used music to express their political beliefs, protest, or advocate for change.

Yeah so do it through your music not a speech in the middle of your concert

Like, Roger Waters has always made political music, if he sings a song about politics then no Pink Floyd fan with two braincells to rub together would be mad about it. He’s been singing about politics since the 1970s. If I bought a ticket, I paid to see him SING about politics, not speak about them.

Ur right there is precedent, I forgot about Bob Marley’s smash hit “Ronald Reagan Can Suck My D*ck”
