So my roommate and her bf aren’t talking to me because my fiancé and i don’t want dogs on our couch. We both have dogs and our dog has never been allowed on the couch and when we decided we’d allow dogs we said no dogs on the couch and they agreed (pt.1)

then one day we were on the couch and their dog kept jumping on it so i said again that i don’t want dogs on the couch and they were like well it’s kinda difficult because he can go on the couch at home so what if we put a blanket down so i was like ok if you put a blanket under him it’s alright. Flash forward to a couple weeks ago me and my fiancé have both seen dog bones on the couch and shows me dirt stains on the couch all were nowhere near the blanket they were using so we decided (pt.2)

I think I might have missed something. Is the couch yours or hers? Either way, I think it’s fair to establish that whoever’s dog is on the couch is responsible for cleaning it. The not speaking is definitely an A-hole move though, so I think either the 4 of you need to work it out or move out.

that dogs were once again not allowed on the couch(our dog has never been allowed on the couch even when theirs was) now they’re pissed at us and not speaking to us. They think that because it is in a communal area they should have equal say in it even tho it does not belong to them. So AITA??

No the couch is mine. My parents bought it for my fiancé and i as a gift. My finance is allergic to dogs so we dont want to carry it with us to our next house if he’s allergic to their dog

Okay. Since it’s yours, move the couch to a new location (bonus if it’s inaccessible by the dogs)

We don’t have enough room in our townhome and don’t have another place to store it.

Hmm… well if the other couple isn’t talking to you, then sometimes you just need to wait it out. If they want their dog back in the couch, then they’ll talk to you, and you should probably tell them no. I would NOT recommend renewing the lease once you’re done with it.
