AITA if i want to transfer because my school is trying to cover up the fact that Epstein repeatedly visited our school? That is one thing, but now our school is trying to cover it up now…

Like part of me doesn’t feel safe that our administration is trying to cover it up, but I don’t know if I’m just being dramatic and an a hole

I mean… I’m sure pedos and bad ppl visited every school. I’d say it’s more likely they are trying to smooth over it because they don’t want it to affect enrollment numbers

my school was mentioned like 60+ times in the epstein files

it’s really like that at every school tho. there’s been so many terrible people who have come to my school or donated but they pretend like it never happened. at the end of the day, schools are businesses and they aren’t going to make decisions that are for “the good of the people” but ones that benefit them so they don’t lose funding. it’s good to feel enraged and disappointed but moving won’t change anything unfortunately:(

Why would you ever be the asshole for this?

It’s called face-saving. The school has a public image to uphold and involvement with Epstein is about as bad as it gets on a public front. The school made the mistake of addressing the allegations when no information existed (that the public is aware of) that detailed what the visits entailed. You have a right to be concerned, but don’t blow it out of proportion. For all anyone knows, they’re *just* visits. (NTA)

… is corrupt. Putting the moral conflict on us plebeian nobodies is the same thing as the push on consumers and small businesses to adopt paper straws when theres Big Oil running the show

Not the asshole but dont transfer bc of that. And the whole “well if everyone believes they cant/ wont make an impact, no collective change will happen” doesnt apply because B*st*n will be fine with or without yall. If you are very morally conflicted consider you disrupting your education and the hassle of transferring for an evil far bigger than that (and far bigger than your school) who doesnt gaf about you. IMO dont put too much weight on a moral high ground or responsibility when…

… its not going to make much of a difference unfortunately. Especially if your confliction is just based on epstein and related affairs when likely your school has way deeper dirty laundry but Epstein is just a shock factor and hot topic that its making you feel some type of way (which is valid ofc). But if your education experience has been positive i wouldnt transfer because as we know (and are learning even more) everywhere and everything(especially powerful institutions like universities)..

Do what you want and what is best for you!! Alternatively, or at least while you are there still, if you feel strongly about it, you could organize with other students and protest the decision.

I transferred to be closer to home. Do what you want. It’s not unreasonable if you just don’t vibe with your school and have the ability to transfer to do so. I don’t know enough about the visits and details of the coverup to comment on that.

I don’t think feeling enraged is a “good” thing but you can certainly be disappointed and upset. Lashing out out of sheer emotion has never led to good things. It usually just makes the situation worse

It’s definitely been a hard thing to just swallow that the people who funded almost every aspect of life really don’t care about people(whether they’re malicious or just ignorance)

This is why I’ve been trying to think about this logistically just because I don’t want to act out based on this alone, but this doesn’t seem like the place for me anymore tbh

We already have a history with big sexual assault scandal so it’s definitely just more of a repeated pattern. It may have just been visits by this client. This is just a habitual thing for our school.
