yk what I don’t get. doctors offices will be like if you show up 20 minutes late it counts as a no show and then at the same time not see you until an hour and half after your appointment time. Like if I’m gonna respect your time respect mine.

It’s bc doctor’s offices overbook on purpose bc a majority of people who make appointments don’t ever show up. So they schedule 3-4 people per time slot, knowing only 1 will end up coming. Sometimes this plan fails, and they have 4 people who need be seen in a 15 minute slot. Which means everyone is an hour behind. That also means you’re kicked off if you’re not there (so if you’re running late just call, they understand, and they’ll fit you into the schedule)

Best part about this is how those same doctors offices wont see 80% of the payment you do towards the care they give as it goes to administrative bloat, inflated medicine prices, and insurance pyramid schemes

I had an appointment at 8:30am. I had to drive two hours and they give you a 15 minute grace period. I was 20 minutes late and they refused to see me🫩

Waited 5 months to see a dr with my mom for an issue I’ve been having for 4 years, dr saw her for 3 minutes and me for 5

This is what happens when competition is based off of insurance instead of service.

Another thing, doctors should NOT get a commission on medicine they prescribe

If we prioritize your time, we prioritize everyone else’s too. So you will be limited very strictly to the amount of time allotted in the exam room, and if you need more time, you’ll have to come back later. Sound good?

Plus sometimes a patient needs more expensive care or bedside manner than expected so appoints will run over, which means the one after it will run over, and so on until the whole day is behind schedule.

OR, we could charge you 3x as much so that you have the full half hour slotted just for you, and then we don’t have to worry about keeping the staff paid and the lights on.

But you will have to pay in advance.

Maybe. Like responding to Op’s frustration with “well if you don’t like it I’m gonna neglect you even more and make you pay more, how about that” like it was some kinda persona attack… are you okay? It’s not that serious 😭

People think doctors have control over this. They don’t. So complaining about your doctors office being busy is like complaining that cars use gas. It’s a whole system doctors work in. You just don’t have any desire to see that.

It’s an offer. That’s exactly what it would take to give you what you want.

Please be someone else’s patient with that privilege. Doctors work 80 hours a week. You can’t get a sick day note and feel good about it without finding something wrong with how you got it.

Then maybe you could just calmly explain that like #1 and I did without making harsh accusations about people’s intent? “You just don’t have any desire to see that…” It’s not about desire, just lack of knowledge. They don’t know the inner workings of an office or why the appointment is an hour late. All you have to say is that when patients need extra care appointments run over, not “how about if you don’t like waiting I won’t give you extra care, sound good.” 😭

I gave you the option of extra care. I also told you it would cost more. Would you rather not know that?
