You order one roll at a time but they come smaller so it’s like 5 pieces a roll. The kitchen closed at 9:30 and the restaurant closed at 10 so on last call, they ordered so many rolls they had to be brought out on two big boats. I think they forgot how much they had ordered before the last call because it was taking longer than normal for the food to come out so they put in even more at the last call to make sure they’d have enough food. I just think it’s so rude to do that personally
If you get paid enough and it’s laid out to you in the job description that’s totally understandable, but definitely not the norm for the vast majority of food jobs and we shouldn’t assume this is the case with this scenario, especially because they did whip it up before close. A lot of higher ups will actually yell at you for staying after you’re supposed to close because corporate doesn’t want to pay overtime lol. There’s been plenty of times where I’ve witnessed restaurants refuse service
That’s stupid. You cannot expect innocent customers to know little nuances like that. How it works is, you cannot expect innocent post a closing time like 9:00, knowing your real closing time is actually 10:00, and that way when people walk up to the door and see 9:00 and it’s 9:30 at that moment, they’ll just walk away and eat somewhere else. If you’re posting a closing time of 10:00, then you cannot fault anybody for walking in at 9:59. It’s not the customers’ job to look out for you.
