It’s not just guys who have situationships. It’s women, as well. This isn’t a phenomenon that is restricted to one gender only. It’s both men and women.

I just got out of a long term relationship and sometimes we don’t want to jump back into something serious. It’s ok to want to have no commitment if you both are open to that. Just be an adult and establish yourselves and boundaries.

Part of it seems to be insecurity. Not knowing if you are ready for it and not being sure if you actually want to be with someone.

The number of guys 30+ (I’m 26 but I had my age range set to 24-36) who have “Figuring it out” for their relationship type is disgusting. Like the lack of decisiveness is so gross in my opinion

That doesn’t seem like insecurity to me if you’re critically asking yourself if you are personally ready for a relationship. Sometimes you’re unsure of yourself because of things like past trauma and you don’t know whether you’re in a space to make a loving commitment.

As a man in this age range, let me offer this insight. We are being incentivized not to marry. Not to mention the world is pricing out middle class families from being able to afford anything. It is clear that whoever is pulling the strings wants population to decrease. Men want to get married and have kids but the conditions aren’t right.

It is financially infeasible to get married and support a family if you make the median income. Getting married without kids is unattractive to men, because it’s a huge liability with no reward. I believe it’s 54% of marriages end in divorce, so no man wants to get married unless he loves the woman, trusts her, and they want kids together. Just speaking honestly, I’d never get married unless children and having a family were the goal.

You are close, but taxes actually get better when you get married. However, expenses and liabilities typically increase heavily. The average sized wedding typically costs $20k and housing costs $350k for a median income. The median income in the US is $80k but most young people make far less than that. In conclusion, it’s become less viable to be married.
