I think there’s a difference between mediocre appeal and mass appeal. And in this case if you feel the need to argue that the masses are mediocre you are being a bit of an elitist ass in my opinion

Does mediocrity mean selling out hundreds of venues, making great business choices like doing the Taylor’s version as someone else said, donating to her crew for the eras tour, creating great new albums, and basically being the most popular female in the world?

Well yeah I’m not saying her music is like high intelligent writing even though some of her lyrics are great. Main difference is I think most people don’t even know the name of the CEO of Cheetos. You say Taylor Swift everyone knows her whether they like her music or not

*sigh* Mediocre by definition is the vast majority of people. She gives mediocre white girls what they want so they like her music. It’s a choice to appeal to mediocrity because there are so many potential fans in that category

From the dictionary : Mediocre: of moderate or low quality, value, ability, or performance. So no the word doesn’t mean the majority of people unless you are saying the vast majority is mediocre

First of all I think you’re in messy territory when you start talking about objectively “good” and “bad” with music but that’s just my opinion. And again, calling her music mediocre is very different in tone from saying it “appeals to mediocrity”. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a person who enjoys mediocre corporate pop and OP is insulting those people just to be a snob and feel holier than thou.
