Congrats!!! I know it’s hard to admit and people laugh at it. But internet porn addiction is actually thing that neurobiologists are researching. I was in neurobiology of addiction and we actually read a paper on it. As it’s not in the dsm 5 yet, yet is the key word. You were not alone, and you are still not alone. Keep it up!! I’m proud of you!
Best advice I have (if Christian) is to love God more than sin. Because a habit of sin is showing that you do not YET love Jesus more than sin. Focus on loving Jesus and you will naturally flee sin. They are opposites. Your body is not your own. But it’s important to give yourself grace. Don’t beat yourself up. Putting yourself on the cross does nothing. We need Jesus to beat lust, without him you cannot do it. If ur not religious, I highly suggest looking to Jesus. He loves you yk.
I think it can be, while there has been disgusting people who endure porn, it is not right to think just because someone watches porn it correlates to them being a murder. Your mom has probably seen porn 😂 and I doubt she’s Ted Bundy. 💀💀 all jokes aside if you do struggle with porn this thread offers great advice from other like you!! If not I could tell you what I did.
Because Ted Bundy is such an honest and reasonable person… I am just saying that you don’t know the direction of the linkage. There very much could be a connection to violence; it could be negative. People using it to mitigate violence or perform certain things for mutual enjoyment is just as plausible. Also this ignore that 20% of porn viewers are women and their porn consumption habits screw more violent then me (ifs studies)
also when you look at what's most popular in porn, the undercurrents of sexual violence are more than clear. the stepsister/stepmom category correlates with incest, the "barely legal/teen" category appeals to pedos, and race-focused porn often reinforces racist beliefs. plus it's impossible to ignore just how degrading mainstream porn is towards women. that's not even getting into just how horrible the industry is for actresses, who report sky-high rates of ptsd, drug addiction, and sexual abuse
It’s very true, there’s a lot of illegal practices that go down. You didn’t even mention the working environment that people have to go through in the industry. I get where you’re coming from but those topics aren’t the only ones that people watch so you can’t fully shame it. I fully understand where you’re coming from but I truly believe that you are making assumptions to the general watchers rather than focusing on the dark parts. Women can be addicted to so what would you say to help them?
A. Who was talking about children? B. It litterally says “the laboratory experiments are criticized as artificial and unrealistic” and marks others as correlational which was the main point of comment. Did you read this? Essentially it is just a summary of disparate problematic studies and normative statements. Nothing really positive (meaning x is proved to be caused by y in population z.) Beyond the lack of value of this summary you still don’t seem to understand that correlation =\= cause.
Cause I definitely do. As a woman, I was hooked on porn for 8 years. When I decided to get out of it, I thought reading smut was a way to slowly get away with it. Cause I used to read smut before I discovered porn. Sadly, smut still got me going and still poisoned my brain in terms of how people acted and looked like as well as sex. It’s not better. It’s still affecting your brain. It’s still damaging for how you view yourself and others. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk
