caloric deficit. when you lose fat, you lose it all over (trying to target one area of fat is BS). you want to consume less calories than you burn. there's online calculators to calculate your maintenance, then you'll eat under that. you can use an app like Lose It to help track your intake to ensure you stay on budget.
