Weblen goods. Part of the value to people in the brand is its status as a conspicuous commodity. “Look at me, I can buy this high end thing even though it’s expensive.” Is what a full lululemon workout set says. It’s designed to say that, thus the heigh price is actually part of the value proposition. Most luxury goods are the same, watches, jewelry, cars, bags, clothes, food etc etc. once you break into the “luxury” space you are paying for less (or even negative) marginal utility.

Instead you’re paying for exclusivity, and the status that exclusivity conveys. Gucci LV RSL etc would actually make less money and their customers would be less happy if they cut the price and increased the production of their goods.
