It depends on your definition of “gentleman”. If you’re thinking of the classical definition that I use, it would be something like a high moral character combined with practical virtues such as prudence and intelligence.

Keep in mind that “Gentle” in the word “gentleman” actually means “best” or “highest” not the modern English definition of “soft/caring”. So a “gentleman”. Literally “best/highest man” would be someone who maximally embodies the highest traits and virtues. So the classical definition of gentleman would be “ a man who embodies in his character the 7 cardinal virtues as well as possibly a set of social virtues besides.”
