I think both men and women need to step back from the whole gender wars and acknowledge that men and women aren’t monoliths. It’s never “all women” or “all men” when it comes down to it. Think about how or what you do when you meet these women, what are you looking for in a person, where would you be able to run into someone on the chiller side. Likewise for women who want to meet the right guy. It’s normal to feel more at peace with people more similar to you.
That being said, it’s still rooted in misogyny. That fact can’t be helped. Everyone, man or woman, is bombarded by patriarchal and misogynistic messaging just by existing in a society that follows it. So I’m not saying it’s your fault or you sought this messaging out. The idea that women are too emotional, high maintenance, and irrational would make them bad friends indeed. Men therefore seek only sex from women and companionship and bonding from other men. This is sexuality vs sociality.
