What actually IS a situationship? Seeing that term thrown around wayyyy too much and I’m just a lonely mf who hasn’t even tried the dating world for at least 2 years

Can be privately hanging out with someone a lot, like lunches, movies, etc. then flirting but neither or one side just not wanting to label themselves as a couple

the concept isn't new at all though, just the word. there's probably fair points to be made about hookup culture but i don't think any of it is that unique to Gen Z or whichever one you had in mind.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with hookup culture at all though. Like mine there no sexual actions happens they are just basically dating without the words. It’s usually caused by past trauma in relationships. It definitely not just a new generation thing. It been around for awhile it just didn’t have name and wasn’t so popular. People tend to over use the term now days even just for long talking phase.

you can avoid a situationship pretty easily by just communicating that you want to be in a real relationship, and if they don’t then you stop seeing them. it’s not really greedy because usually both people in the situationship only kind of want to make it official
