i agree in terms of stuff like height and appearance, but i think that high expectations in personality is understandable

a lot of people seem to expect their partner to be the person of their dreams and go into relationships with that idea and as soon as they don’t meet those expectations every little bad thing is a crime against humanity.

You have social media to thank for that

Everyone wants to date up. Never ending cycle of nobody dating each other except the top 5% of attractive ppl

like yes but also hot take (not in a trying to be nonchalant way) i really don’t gaf. like that mindset comes with natural consequences of not having as many options when it comes to dating and likely dating a lot less. if they wanna date less in exchange for that then fine by me, if they dislike it enough over time where their standards change then that’s also cool

To the point that now there’s ads all over TikTok and YouTube for products that literally brick your phone/divorces so you can’t be on them 24/7 (hell one of them is literally called brick)

and it will only get worse kids are born with iPads in front of them and companies making vr more immersive. by 2035 there will be people that don’t wanna live in reality and rather stare at a screen all day

Luckily (or unluckily) Gen z saw the failure of millennial parenting that led to Gen alpha iPad kids, and soooo many of us are determined to never let that happen to our own children (and many millennials are working to undo the damage to their kids). And a lot of younger Gen z that fell victim to it are being influenced to do better. Using the algorithm against itself

like idk how to even say it in a way that doesn’t sound stupid but it’s expectations for a mutually beneficial relationship with a person, you can’t really think about it like a fairness thing because it’s not. higher expectations also means they have to have a lower desire for options like it’s always balanced
